What two hours with a local changes
- Walking the Oudegracht at water level and understanding how a canal dug in the twelfth century turned cellars into cafés.
- Standing on the Domplein where the nave fell in 1674 and seeing the outline of the church that is no longer there.
- Finding the hofjes and courtyards behind the Nieuwegracht that the tourist map does not show.
- Ending at the Dom Tower door in time for your booked climb, or at a wharf table with the afternoon decided.
What the walk covers
- The Oudegracht and how the wharf cellars work
- The Domplein: the tower, the fallen nave, the cloister
- Hofjes, courtyards and the Nieuwegracht
- Where the students eat and what to do with the afternoon
Meeting point
At Utrecht Centraal, Centrum exit, or on the Domplein, agreed by email.

Where we stand
Dutch City Tours started in 2026 and this walk has no reviews yet. We will not invent any. The guide is an independent local we arrange and name before you confirm. This is an enquiry, not a booking; nothing is charged until you have agreed.
Your guide
We arrange an independent local guide for each enquiry: a local guide who knows Utrecht well, speaks good English and is good company. You are told who your guide is, by name, before you confirm anything.
Guide profiles will appear here once guides have agreed to be listed. We do not publish people who have not consented, and we do not invent them. Questions about a guide before you enquire: hello@dutchcitytours.com.
Questions people ask
- Is the Dom Tower climb included?
- No; the climb is run by the tower itself as a separate guided tour and must be booked in advance. Your guide can time the walk to end at the tower door.
- Can the tour include the Rietveld Schröder House?
- Not inside; it has its own small-group visits by reservation. The walk can head that way and explain the house from outside if you book a later slot.
