What this is
Dutch City Tours started in 2026. It is run from the Netherlands by a small team with a background in building direct-booking travel websites, and it works with independent local guides rather than employing them. We own the website, the enquiry, the customer relationship and the responsibility for arranging a good guide; the guide owns the walk.
The idea is narrow on purpose. Most international visitors stay in Amsterdam and see only Amsterdam. Seven distinct cities are 15 to 60 minutes away by a train that needs no reservation. We write honest guides to those cities and arrange private local guides who meet you at the station.
What we do
- Publish city guides, day-trip comparisons and itineraries whose facts are checked against official sources and dated
- Arrange private walking introductions with local guides in Haarlem, Leiden, The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam, Gouda and Utrecht
- Confirm each guide, price and meeting point by email before anything is agreed
What we do not do
- No vehicles, no chauffeurs, no hotel pickup
- No instant booking; enquiries only, answered by a person
- No marketplace of dozens of guides; we arrange one for you
- No fake reviews, star ratings, customer counts or “only 2 left” banners. There are no reviews yet because we are new; the first real ones will appear here unedited
- No selling of train tickets; you buy your own and we tell you which train
- No Amsterdam tours at launch; the city is well served already
How we make money
You pay one price for the walk; we pay the guide from it and keep the difference for arranging, checking and running this site. Prices are published as “from” and confirmed by email; they do not change after confirmation.
