Dutch City Tours

Terms

Plain-language terms for arranging a walk with us. Version 2026-09-10. These are a working draft written by the operator and will be reviewed by a Dutch legal adviser before the business scales; if anything here is unclear, the confirmation email governs.

1. Who you are dealing with

Dutch City Tours (dutchcitytours.com) arranges private walking tours led by independent local guides. Company registration details will be added here once complete. Contact: hello@dutchcitytours.com.

2. Enquiry, confirmation, contract

Submitting the enquiry form is not a booking. A contract exists only when we have sent you a confirmation email naming the guide, the date, the meeting point and the price, and you have accepted it in writing. Until then either side can walk away without cost.

3. What is included

A private guide for the agreed duration, an agreed meeting point near the destination station or a central landmark, and a route adapted to your interests. Not included: train or other transport, admissions, food and drink, tips, insurance, and anything not named in the confirmation.

4. Price and payment

Prices on the site are indicative (“from”) and in euros. The price in your confirmation is final and includes Dutch VAT where applicable. Payment is by bank transfer or payment link before the walk, as stated in the confirmation. We do not take card payments on this website.

5. Cancellation and changes

  • By you, more than 48 hours before the start: free; any payment is refunded in full.
  • By you, within 48 hours or no-show: the full price is due, because the guide has kept the time for you.
  • By us (guide illness or similar): we offer a replacement guide, a new date or a full refund; your choice. We are not liable for your travel costs.
  • Weather: walks go ahead in rain. In official severe-weather warnings we contact you to reschedule or refund.
  • Train disruption: tell us or your guide as soon as you know. We shorten, shift or reschedule where we reasonably can; if the walk cannot happen through no fault of yours, we refund.

6. Your responsibilities

Arrive at the agreed meeting point on time with a working phone or email. Tell us in advance about mobility, health or accessibility needs so the route can be adapted, or so we can say honestly that it cannot. You are responsible for your own tickets, belongings and behaviour, and for anyone in your party.

7. Liability

Walks take place on public streets at your own risk. Our liability is limited to the price you paid, except where Dutch law does not allow such a limit (for example for intent or gross negligence). Guides are independent; we select them with care but are not liable for matters outside the walk we arranged.

8. Complaints

Tell us within 14 days at hello@dutchcitytours.com. We reply within one working day and try to put things right. EU consumers may also use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform.

9. Law

Dutch law applies. Consumers keep any protection their own country’s law gives them. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands.

Group sizes, durations and “from” prices referred to above are as published on the private tours page at the time of confirmation (currently up to 6 people; 2 or 3 hours).
